Our Projects
The mandate of Gilgit Development Authority is to ensure a sustainable development and to provide basic amenities to the inhabitants of the city. Keeping in view its mandate, GDA has undertaken various projects of immense importance within its notified jurisdictions. The initiated projects pertain to clean drinking water supply, sewerage and sanitary system, solid waste management system, development of parks, tourist spots and play grounds. The on-going projects will play a pivotal role to bring a visible positive change in outlook of Gilgit city and will make the capital capable to provide a livable environment to its tenants. In addition to this, GDA is also working on Master Plan of Gilgit City which is in finalization process and final draft of Master Plan is ready to present before GB Cabinet for approval. The development portfolio of Authority has reached up to 6 Billion Rupees.

Yadgar-e-Shuhda Gilgit

The Renovation of Yadgar-e-Shuhda Gilgit project is now complete, showcasing a perfect blend of heritage and modernity. The project features improvement of the monument, development of canopies, artificial stone carvings, sculpture of Shuhda , development of fountains, parade tracks, grill construction, horticulture work, and night lighting. Project Details: Contract Cost: PKR 21.948 Million. This project pays tribute to the region's history and heritage, providing a dignified memorial for visitors.

Family Park Basin Gilgit

The Development of Family Park Basin Gilgit project is now complete, offering a vibrant recreational space for families. The project features land development, construction of PCC side drain, boundary wall, park beautification, coffee shop, and lighting work. Project Details: Contract Cost: PKR 21.702 Million, completed on June 22, 2019, with 100% financial progress (PKR 21.915 Million) and 100% physical completion. This project enhances the quality of life for local residents and provides a welcoming environment for families to relax and enjoy quality time together.

The Dadi Family Jawary Park Gilgit

The Dadi Jawary Family Park Gilgit project is now complete, offering a modern recreational space for residents. The project features 27 Kanal land development, fully covered drainage system, lighting, jogging tracks, children's play areas, and open-air gym. Project Details: Contract Cost: PKR 16.600 Million, completed on November 29, 2019, with 100% financial progress (PKR 6.961 Million utilized) and 100% physical completion. This project promotes health, wellness, and community interaction, providing a vibrant environment for families and individuals to relax, exercise, and enjoy quality time together, ultimately enhancing their overall well-being.

Danyore Hanging Bridge as Photo Gallery

The Development of Danyore Hanging Bridge as a Photo Gallery project is a significant cultural and tourism initiative that showcases the historical, architectural, and natural beauty of the region. Launched on April 17, 2017, and completed on October 30, 2019, the project was executed with a total cost of PKR 34.530 million, reaching 100% physical progress and 99% financial progress (PKR 34.405 million). The project’s core objective was to conserve the iconic Danyore Hanging Bridge—a historical suspension bridge that holds cultural importance—and revitalize the surrounding area as a tourist destination. Among the notable features of the project is the innovative development of a tunnel into a photo gallery, designed to visually narrate the bridge’s history and local heritage through curated displays. The site also includes the conservation of an adjacent archaeological area, ensuring the protection and interpretation of historical artifacts and structures. To support sustainability, a hybrid solar energy system was installed, providing clean power to the site. The inclusion of a cave café and well-positioned scenic viewpoints allows visitors to enjoy the natural landscape, while gazebos and a designated parking area enhance comfort and accessibility. This multifaceted development not only preserves a historical landmark but also creates a vibrant, eco-friendly tourist hub that contributes to local economic growth and cultural awareness.

Beautification of Main Entrance City Park Gilgit

The Beautification of Main Entrance City Park project introduced several key features aimed at enhancing the visual charm and functionality of the park’s entrance. A thoughtfully designed landscape with ornamental plants and greenery now welcomes visitors, creating a refreshing and inviting environment. Paved walkways, decorative lighting, and artistic elements such as stonework or entrance arches add aesthetic value and improve accessibility. Benches and seating areas were likely installed for comfort, while signage and entrance structures contribute to better navigation and identity of the park. These enhancements not only improve the overall look of the park but also promote community engagement, leisure, and tourism by offering a more pleasant and organized public space.

Renovation of Heli Chowk

The Renovation of Heli Chowk project, completed on February 1, 2020, is a landmark urban beautification and traffic regulation initiative in Gilgit. With a total cost of PKR 7.9 million, the project began on September 1, 2020, and achieved 100% physical and financial progress. Key features include the enhancement of the central monument, improved traffic flow management, and the installation of granite flooring, stone cladding, and stainless steel railings. The renovation also incorporates tinted glass stars with diffused lighting, night illumination, and detailed reliefs honoring Shuhada and Ghazis. Additionally, the iconic helicopter structure was fully repaired and repainted, adding renewed significance to this symbolic public space.

Development of Tourist View point at Kargah Buddha, Gilgit

The Development of the Tourist Viewpoint at Kargah Buddha, Gilgit, is a cultural heritage initiative aimed at promoting tourism and enhancing visitor experience at one of the region’s most iconic historical sites. Launched on July 20, 2018, and completed by July 19, 2020, the project was carried out at a contract cost of PKR 8.957 million. With 100% physical progress and 95% financial completion (PKR 15.419 million), the project has been successfully finalized. The newly developed viewpoint offers improved accessibility, better facilities, and a more engaging environment for both local and international visitors to appreciate the ancient rock carving and the serene beauty of the surrounding landscape.
